My name is Theresa Minok, certified Life and Business coach serving the Neurodivergent community. I work with people one-on-one. I also have two different memberships, the neuro tribe that's for ages 30 and up. And the Neuro Tribe twenties launchpad youth guessed it. This is for people that are ages 18 to 29, so I'd love to see you all in there.
Welcome back to the Neuro Tribe. I'm so grateful to have all of you here. Welcome. You know, the funny thing is I was talking to a client yesterday and I busted out in song and she's. She was like, wait, what are you doing? I started laughing and I said, I just randomly bust out into song and I have no rhyme or reason. Most of the time I'm not even thinking about doing it, I just do it.
And it's [00:01:00] just part of my wiring. Yay, Diego. Go Me. Gotta love us ADHDers. If you guys want to find me and send me a song on Facebook or Instagram, I would absolutely love to hear your songs. Thank you.
Are you a neurodivergent parent in business and you just heard our lovely president say some choice things about the neurodivergent community and autism, and you've thought to yourself, I think I've heard it all now.
You've been blamed for child behaviors. Maybe you were blamed for giving your child autism because of your age. As neurodivergent parents, we've heard it all. It could be that the school wanted you to go to parenting classes because your child's autism wasn't real. It was just a figment of the imagination. [00:02:00] Or because they have autism in their.
Low needs that the behaviors that they're seeing don't have to do with autism. They just have to do with what's going on at home. Or maybe you have gotten phone calls from places asking if your child is safe because they didn't have a lunch, only to find out that on the way to school your child threw their lunchbox out the window.
It can be so many different things that we have as parents been blamed for or gaslit for. And now we have a new one, that we gave our kids autism by taking Tylenol or a cold medicine when we were pregnant. And I think the interesting thing with that one is if you. Think about all [00:03:00] of the parents that did not take any Tylenol or cold medicine while they were pregnant. So what's the reason their child has autism?
Maybe nobody brought up the fact that autism has been around before Tylenol and cold medicine and autism has been around throughout all of history a lot of the biggest inventions in world history have come from people that are on the spectrum. It's interesting that it was labeled as a tragedy that we need to solve. That's quite frankly insulting because people with autism are not a tragedy to be solved.
They are a gift to this world. Some of the kindest, most genuine people I have ever met in my life have autism. The other part [00:04:00] of that is, I'm not sure that. Maybe he has all of the information because the most intelligent people in the world are on the spectrum.
It is very common to have a high IQ and have autism be twice exceptional. I'm not even sure if the president knows what that is, so I think it's interesting for our community to hear and receive that there is something to blame for having autism, and it's a tragedy that we need to solve and take care of this.
It feels like there's a lot that is going backwards as far as the growth of the United States and all of this time, and I might even be [00:05:00] hidden from the algorithm for what I'm saying. I will say this is that as an autistic person, you have the right to all of your feelings. You have the right to be frustrated, the right to feel angry for being told that you are a tragedy, or if you are a parent and you.
Basically just got blamed for creating autism in your child. It's not true. We all know it's not true, and having all of the information is really important to keep to the facts not the mud slinging. Also knowing for yourself, who you are as a person and as a parent, [00:06:00] and knowing what you have gone through as a parent to get the right supports and the rights for your children.
And whether you took Tylenol or didn't take Tylenol, autism isn't a problem to be solved. It is a gift to the world that needs the proper and adequate supports, and autism has been around for much, much longer than any pharmaceutical. Okay, I love you all. Take care. Bye-bye.
